Description
Adductor magnus is the largest of the group which include:

  • Adductor Brevis
  • Adductor Longus
  • Adductor Magnus

This group signal is supplied as follows:
Magnus - Obturator nerve L2, 3, 4.
-Sciatic nerve(tibial division) L2, 3, 4.
Brevis - Obturator nerve L2, 3.
Longus - Obturator nerve(anterior division) L2, 3, 4.

The adductor muscle group is a group of muscles located in the thigh. The adductor muscle group is made up of a couple muscles, including the adductor longus, adductor brevis, and adductor magnus muscles. These muscles are responsible for adduction of the thigh, which means they help to move the leg towards the midline of the body. This movement is important for maintaining balance and stability, and for performing activities such as walking, running, and climbing stairs.

The adductor longus muscle originates from the pubis bone, and inserts onto the medial aspect of the tibia bone. The adductor brevis muscle originates from the inferior ramus of the pubis bone, and inserts onto the posterior aspect of the femur bone. The adductor magnus muscle has two heads: the adductor minimus and the adductor magnus. The adductor minimus head originates from the inferior ramus of the pubis bone, and inserts onto the posterior aspect of the femur bone. The adductor magnus head originates from the ischium bone, and inserts onto the posterior aspect of the femur bone.

One example of how the adductor muscle group is used is when you walk or run. In order to maintain your balance and move forward, you need to keep your legs close together, which requires adduction of the thigh. This movement is facilitated by the adductor muscle group.

Some examples include:
  • Crossover Steps
  • Getting in/out of car
