Description
The teres major muscle is a small, thick muscle located in the upper back. It originates from the inferior angle of the scapula, and inserts on the medial lip of the intertubercular groove of the humerus. The primary function of the teres major is to assist in the extension, adduction, and internal rotation of the shoulder joint. It also helps to stabilize the shoulder joint.

It is not necessary to use the teres major muscle daily, as it will naturally be engaged during activities that involve movement of the shoulder joint. However, incorporating specific exercises that target the teres major can help to improve muscle strength and function.
