Description
The flexor hallucis brevis muscle is a small, flat muscle located in the posterior compartment of the foot. It extends from the medial cuneiform and the base of the first metatarsal bone to the base of the distal phalanx of the great toe.

The main function of the flexor hallucis brevis muscle is to flex the great toe at the metatarsophalangeal joint and the proximal interphalangeal joint. It also helps to stabilize the great toe during movements of the foot.

The flexor hallucis brevis muscle is commonly used in activities that require flexion of the great toe, such as walking, running, and jumping. It is also used in activities that require stability of the great toe, such as standing and balancing on the feet.
