Abducts the fifth toe away from the foot. Also it acts as flexion of the toe join, curling the toe inward towards the foot. The main purpose is while partaking in physical activity to maintain posture while in an upright position.
This muscle receives signals from the Lateral plantar nerve from tibial nerve S1-3.
