Exercise Description:
A shoulder stand is a yoga pose in which the body is supported by the shoulders and upper arms, with the legs held vertically in the air. To perform the pose, you would begin by lying on your back on a yoga mat or other flat surface. Then, bend your knees and place your hands on your lower back for support. Slowly and carefully, use your hands and upper body strength to lift your hips and lower back off the ground, bringing your legs up into the air so that they are perpendicular to the floor. Your shoulders and upper arms should be supporting your weight.
The shoulder stand has several health benefits. It can help to improve circulation and stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid glands, which can help to regulate metabolism and improve overall physical and mental well-being. It can also help to improve digestion and reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, the pose can help to strengthen the shoulders and upper back muscles, and improve flexibility in the legs and spine.
