Description
The Opponens Digiti Minimi is a small, triangular muscle located in the foot. It originates on the lateral side of the metatarsal bone of the little toe, and inserts on the lateral side of the phalanges (the bones of the toes) of the little toe.
The main function of the Opponens Digiti Minimi is to flex the little toe at the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint and to adduct the little toe towards the other toes. This allows the little toe to be brought closer to the other toes, which is important for maintaining balance and stability when standing and walking.
