The Occipitofrontalis muscle, also known as the Frontalis muscle, is a paired muscle located in the scalp that covers the frontal bone of the skull. It consists of two parts, the Frontalis muscle, and the Occipitalis muscle, which are connected by a broad aponeurosis(a sheet of connective tissue).

The Frontalis muscle is located in the forehead and extends from the eyebrows to the top of the skull. It is responsible for raising the eyebrows and wrinkling the forehead skin, which creates horizontal lines across the forehead. This muscle is also involved in facial expressions that convey surprise, concern, or worry. The Occipitalis muscle is located in the back of the head and is responsible for pulling the scalp posteriorly. It works in opposition to the Frontalis muscle to allow for various facial expressions.

This muscle helps us to communicate nonverbally by conveying various emotions through our facial expressions. It also helps to protect the eyes by allowing us to raise our eyebrows and blink quickly in response to potential dangers. Additionally, it plays a role in maintaining proper posture by stabilizing the head and neck. The Occipitofrontalis muscle is an important component of the facial muscles, and its proper function is essential for normal facial expressions and nonverbal communication.
