Description
The compressor urethrae muscle is a muscle located in the pelvis. It is a paired muscle that is found in both males and females. In males, the compressor urethrae muscle is part of the deep muscle group of the penis and is responsible for enabling erections and ejaculation. In females, the compressor urethrae muscle is part of the deep muscle group of the vulva and is responsible for enabling sexual arousal and lubrication.
The compressor urethrae muscle originates from the perineal body and the ischial and inferior pubic rami, and inserts onto the urethra. In males, the compressor urethrae muscle surrounds the penile urethra and helps to compress it during ejaculation. In females, the compressor urethrae muscle surrounds the vaginal opening and helps to compress it during sexual arousal and intercourse.
One example of how the compressor urethrae muscle is used is during sexual arousal and intercourse. In males, contraction of the compressor urethrae muscle helps to maintain an erection and facilitate ejaculation. In females, contraction of the compressor urethrae muscle helps to increase blood flow to the genitals and facilitate lubrication. This allows for more comfortable and pleasurable sexual activity.
